Volunteering as a business

Teamwork means more trees

If you are interested in supporting your employees to take action, whether that’s tree planting or woodland management, then we can help. By volunteering with us you will be taking action for the environment  whilst spending a day with your team in nature developing new skills.

“We absolutely loved spending the day with City of Trees. We helped to plant 250 trees in Bolton. If you are looking to support Greater Manchester community and sustainability look no further. It’s also a fantastic team day out (a cup of tea and a giant bucket of free biscuits under the rain shelter was bliss between the hard work)” – Form Property

Green Away Days

Our Green Away Days are bespoke sessions tailored to your organisation and employees. Sessions can be run all year round and activities will vary depending on the time of year. Tree planting season runs from October to early March therefore it’s mostly the colder, winter months when we plant trees. If you join us in summer, expect to get stuck into some woodland management, tree maintenance or wildflower planting. Our team do their best to accommodate a location suitable to you, but this will depend on what projects we have going on!

Our Green Away Days are £50+VAT per person and are suitable for groups of 10 or more (minimum £500 spend), including lunch, all equipment, training and facilities. All you need to do is turn up on the day with suitable clothing and footwear.

Part of a smaller group?

If you have a smaller group of employees (around six people or less) looking to get involved in volunteering with City of Trees, then we’d recommend joining us at one of our public events. We have a range of activities running across the region, for all the details and to book, visit our events page.

Frequently asked questions

We provide all of the tools and materials you’ll need, including gloves. There will be a briefing at the start of the day so you don’t need to prepare anything in advance.

We usually go ahead whatever the weather, we would only reschedule in extreme circumstances.  If it’s really bad we will make a judgement call the day before or on the day of the event.

Go for clothes that you don’t mind getting muddy, as well as sturdy closed-toed shoes or boots. You’ll be working in long grasses and vegetation so you’ll want to be protected against this. Check the forecast but come prepared for the weather to change – this is Manchester after all!
