GM Walking Voice Event: Bee Network Engagement

Wednesday, 11 September, 2019 - 09:30

Infrastructure plans for connecting local communities have been developed and are now out for comment. Find out why, how and have your say. Organised by Greater Manchester Walking Voice.

What makes places good for walking and for living in? Come and find out!

  • Contribute to the discussion and create a louder Walking Voice for Greater Manchester
  • You’ll be joining walkers, walking agencies, community organisations, population health and primary care specialists, local authority activity specialists, active transport policy and planners, and environmentalists.

The GM Walking Voice will host this event providing an opportunity for meaningful input to the GM Bee Network for a range of stakeholders. This will be an opportunity for people with an interest in increasing levels of walking to hear about the plans and provide some feedback from a walking perspective.

Those attending will hear about the latest version of the Bee Network map and the principles behind the network across Greater Manchester. Attendees will also have the opportunity to take part in workshops exploring different aspects of the plans.

This event will allow GM Walking Voice to gather feedback on the plans and to encourage and enable those attending to spread the word on the considerations required for quality connecting routes and public realm that will encourage widespread use by local communities.

This event is open for anyone with an interest in enabling people to walk more in their local community, whether that be to the park, to work, to school or for the simple enjoyment of walking.

  • Be a forum for gaining meaningful feedback on the Bee Network plans from a walking perspective
  • Raise the profile of the GM Walking Voice as a body influencing health, transport, environmental and planning policy, and as a mechanism for engagement and influence
  • Raise awareness of walking infrastructure.

There will be a presentation on the Bee Network, followed by Interactive workshops to gain your valuable feedback and input.
