Wrights Wood conservation event

Thursday, 5 September, 2019 - 10:00

Join us to help revitalise Wrights Wood in Cheadle, Stockport.

Our 'Citizen Forester' event will take place on Thursday 5 September - 10am-3pm.

Wright’s Wood is a great pocket of local woodland in Cheadle, Stockport. A woodland haven nestled just a stones throw from the main road, the site acts as a safe corridor for all kinds of wildlife within the surrounding urban environment.

We'll be doing some path clearance and canopy lifting of vegetation from paths and raised boardwalk, removal of invasive plants and shrubs from woodland and leaf litter/silt from brook. Working with Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and The Friends of Wrights Wood.

By foot, entrance to the woodland is from ‘The Drive, Cheadle Hulme, Cheadle, SK8 5PW’. (See map)

Carparking: The site entrance is on a private road, used for access only. Therefore we advise people park and walk 2/3minutes to site. Car parking is available at Adswood Park carpark next to Busy Bees Nursery, (please see attached map for walking route to site).

Please bring suitable sturdy and/or waterproof footwear and long trousers due to working around bramble and nettles. Please bring mosquito repellent or wear long sleeves. In case of changeable or bad weather its advised to apply/bring sun protection such as a sunscreen/hat, waterproofs and warm clothes or change of clothes.
