Grindsmith: Turning waste into art, and art into trees

20 April 2018

Manchester coffee makers Grindsmith will be supporting City of Trees this spring with the aim of raising £1,000 to help plant 100 trees in Greater Manchester.

As well as raising funds they will be helping to reduce waste, encouraging customers to turn old coffee bags into artwork which will then be auctioned off at the opening of their new roastery in Ancoats this May.

They will also be donating 50p from the sale of filter coffees to City of Trees through May and June.

Peter Gibson, director at Grindsmith said “City of Trees is aligned with our ethos for a better and greener Manchester and we are vey happy to contribute alongside them to bring value to our city and give back to the community."

Sian Day, Fundraising Manager at City of Trees said “We’re really excited to have the support of Grindsmith with this innovative fundraising campaign. We rely on donations and the support of the local community to continue our vital work; planting more trees and getting more people connected to nature.”
