Wild Rumpus (producers of the award-winning Just So Festival) and Forestry Commission England join forces to present a brand new experience for families this spring: Art On The Run, held at City Forest Park.
Combining our joint love of the arts, woodlands and exercising outdoors Art On The Run is a ridiculous run like no other – a 5k dash through the most beautiful landscape encountering surprising and fantastical large-scale art installations …. expect the unexpected to help you on your way.
Race, run, scamper, chase, sprint, scurry, bound, dart, canter, gallop, jog, scuttle, trot or walk. Cross the finish line and join some footstomping musicians. Art On The Run is a new wondrous woodland experience and perfectly curious April Fool run. Look out for eccentric warm ups in advance. A limited amount of tickets are on sale now.
Art On The Run is the first event of this scale at the new City Forest Park which spans Salford and Bury councils, an initiative by City of Trees and the Forestry Commission to create a huge public park in Greater Manchester bigger than New York’s Central Park.
Lots of trees have been planted across the site in recent years to provide a haven for wildlife and an expanse of woodland for local communities to enjoy. City Forest Park incorporates part of the Irwell Sculpture Trail and is made up of many community woodlands and nature reserves linking spaces such as Clifton Country Park and Drinkwater Park.
Sarah Bird and Rowan Hoban, Directors of Wild Rumpus say: “We love running, we love music, we love art and we love exploring forests, so we put all this together to create a new event. We’re thrilled to have found such a beautiful and inspiring site to host our first ever Art On the Run"
Richard Topley, Forester at Forestry Commission England says: “We are delighted to be able to host the "Art On The Run" event at City Forest Park. The woodland has developed over the last few years and this event is a great chance to open the doors to a wider audience and invite families to enjoy the site in a different and unusual way. City Forest Park LIVIA is host to a wide range of habitats and wildlife, and being stone’s throw from Manchester City Centre it’s a great place to spend a day walking, cycling or running!”
