A 15 ft high hand carved solid oak pole representing the Tree Charter’s ‘Make Trees Accessible to All’ principle has been unveiled at Drinkwater Park in Bury ahead of the first National Tree Charter Day on 24 November.
Mayor Andy Burnham has praised efforts to bring more greenery to Greater Manchester on the day of the inaugural Green Summit, which saw Mr Burnham announce his ambitions for making the region one of the greenest in Europe.
School children, spades at the ready, are this week turning out in force to play a hands on role in creating a greener landscape for their future. As an organisation interested in all things tree and forest related we also started thinking about what has happened over the last century for women in the land and forestry sector. It turns out that the suffragette movement and women working in forests are not entirely unconnected…
