Green Connections is all about getting the people of Greater Manchester to connect with nature from their doorstep and explore and enjoy the great variety of sites and landscapes.
With funding provided by Oglesby Charitable Trust, City of Trees are working with partners and volunteers to improve Greater Manchester’s Green Connections, which will allow more people to access the great outdoors, using the great variety of off road routes.
Working with partners across the region we plan to:
Improve the quality of infrastructure of off-road routes (green-ways) - Enable people to travel, commute, explore and discover Greater Manchester on foot and bike
Promote the benefits of connecting to the natural environment – Show how getting active in nature can boost both physical and mental health
Improve communications and information on routeways, greenspaces and places of interest - Encourage and empower people to get out and about on foot or by bike
Inspire social action and volunteering – Involve people in practical conservation schemes and on-going maintenance of green-routes and sites to make them safe and accessible
