Citizen Forester Tree Planting at Nicol Mere Recreation Ground, Wigan

The Details

Join us for a day of tree planting and maintenance and become a Citizen Forester with City of Trees!

We are planting trees in response to the climate and biodiversity emergency. They create healthier, happier communities, tackle the climate crisis head on, reconnect us to our natural world, and provide essential habitats for wildlife.

All tools will be provided; please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work and sturdy footwear. Drop in for an hour or stay the whole day – you will be guided throughout the day so no prior experience is necessary. This activity is suitable for all ages.

Time & Location

• 10am-3pm. We will start at 10am, please note we may finish earlier than 3pm if all the work is completed. Please arrive as close to 10am as possible.

Parking/public transport

• There are parking spaces next to site as well as on street parking in residential area
• The nearest bus stop(s) are a 10 minute walk away on Old Road on Wigan Road (Stop ID MANTDPJW) and Old Road on Wigan Road (Stop ID MANTDPMA). The following bus routes stop here: 610, 22, 35, 156, 157, 611, 663, 665, 666, 669, 742 and 953. The nearest train station is Bryn on Wigan Road and is a 12 minute walk away.

About the site

Nicol Mere Recreation Ground is a publicly accessible green space. The area where we will be working is flat and has short grass. There are no formal paths. A portaloo will be available on site for volunteer use.
