What to expect:
Put survey theory into practice and carry out visual searches of aquatic and terrestrial habitat.
Learn how to conduct a HSI assessment: Identify and assess suitable habitat for GCN.
Survey and record amphibian species: Along with GCN, any of amphibian species identified will be recorded during the survey and records submitted.
Please note, this session is following up from a workshop hosted on the 7th of March to introduce GCN ecology and survey methodology.
It is desirable that you would have attended this before conducting a survey. If you did not attend the workshop, please inform us and contact lizzie@cityoftrees.org.uk or jimena@cityoftrees.org.uk.

About the site
- Lees Brook Nature Park is in the heart of the Medlock Valley, with a combination of wooded valleys and meadows. The site is used for walking, cycling and horse-riding. The area where we will be surveying has a combination of formal and uneven ground trodden paths.
- Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
- Toilet facilities will not be available for this site.
Public Transport
- There is limited parking around this site, so please try to use public transport where possible. But if necessary there is residential parking along Turner Street.
- The 861, 822, 836, 184 stop at Redwood Lane is a 4 minute walk from our meeting point.
- The closest tram stop is Oldham Mumps and is a 34 minute walk from our meeting point.
